Teacher Selection
All teachers must meet extremely high standards to become part of the Excel Tuition Centre team. We screen all applicants to make sure they have the right qualifications, experience and the right attitude to be a successful teacher. Our rigorous processes are designed to ensure our teachers are of the highest calibre, can be trusted and can make a significant difference to your child’s success.
When you select the Excel Tuition Centre, you know your teacher will have passed the four-stage selection process.
1. Application
Teachers initially apply online or in writing. All teachers need to have qualified teacher status (QTS). Our KS1 and KS2 teachers must have the correct qualifications and relevant primary school teaching experience. Similarly, our KS3 and GCSE teachers are also subject specialist teachers and must have an abundance of mainstream secondary school teaching experience in the subject that they teach.
2. Personal Interview
We interview all teachers to check their credentials, their experience and their aptitude for teaching. Education and academic criteria are important but so is the desire to really make a difference and an outlook that enjoys seeing children thrive and flourish.
3. Document Verification (Enhanced DBS and Prohibitions Checks)
We insist on seeing copies of all documentation including degree certificate, QTS certificate, Photo ID and Enhanced DBS certificate. In addition to this, we also carry out a Prohibitions/Sanctions/Restrictions check for every teacher.
4. Reference Checks
We obtain written character and employment references before registering a teacher to work with us, making sure these references are from reliable organisations.
